I entered the University of Georgia in the Fall of 1977. Before I knew it I was a Chi Phi pledge. I did not realize at the time what a difference it would make in my life, both as a college student, and today as an adult. My mind is filled with great memories. The older brothers like Coggins, Blum, Senour , Franco, Pogy, Nesmith, Pigpen, Whatley, and many more. The parties were big, and I mean big. Peter would come to discuss our ISSUES, mostly with the campus police and the university. The good thing was he would always bring a keg. We would fight with the KA's, and party with the SAE's. The house usually smelled like stale beer, and typically had a few window panes missing. Seems like someone was always having to replace a window pane or a door. Nothing got old in the house as it wore out quickly. Pledgeship was long, and included a weekend pledge trip encompassing most of the southeast. Initiation weekend started in the national forest 20 miles outside of Athens, and ended in exhausted elation. Most of my closest friends today are my Chi Phi brothers. Most of my grandest memories are of times spent with my brothers. There comes a point in your life when you begin to realize who and what made you who you are today. For better of for worse much of who I am today is because I am a Chi Phi. For that I am thankful. I have been in the mortgage business most of my adult life. At my age I have originated and closed more residential mortgages in Georgia than anyone else I know. As in all professions you start to ask yourself what more you can do to make the most out of your life. I came to the realization that I would enjoy my days more if I spent more of them working with Chi Phi's. If you ever need mortgage advice I sure would enjoy speaking with you.
